Style Tips for : Spring Racing
For those of you that are more hipster/fashion forward you will be glad to know that for the first time Flemington has relaxed its rule around sock and embraced sock-less fashion. So men if you want to flaunt your ankle, you now can
Suits and ties are a must. Play around with bold strips, polkas and prints even it its just in your pocket square or add a yellow rose on Melbourne cup day ( it’s the offical flower of the day)
There is strictly no denim and a suit shirts must be closed. Surprisingly this means a tie only and no cravats ( I am sure Matt Preston would try to get away with it)
Its spring, it’s the races and I think it’s the perfect opportunity to get dressed up. It is always better to be over dressed then under dressed. No midriffs, denim or sportswear to be worn.
So what colours are you expecting to see:
Blushing rose: embrace your inner romantic and think floaty dusky tones. Rose gold will be everywhere .
Head to toe florals : What better time to wear floral then during spring!
Stripes and prints-It’s a chance to have fun and even mix stripes with prints. Be daring and have fun.
Headwear: This is what it is all about hats or fascinators are still customary for the ladies.
Millinery trends are metallic and jewels, rose gold and flowers crown fascinators
Shoes: Avoid stilettos — unless you want to aerate the turf. If you don’t think you will last the day in heels bring a pair of flats or rolled up ballet shoes. There is nothing worse then being all dressed up and walking in agony or even (gasp) taking shoes off!
Melbourne weather is so unpredictable! Check the forecast and maybe take a small umbrella or have a wrap for your shoulders. This can also come in handy if you are needing something to sit on.
The main thing is that your outfit reflects your personality and that on the day you feel confident and comfortable.
