KATIE PERRY TAKES AN INSPIRED STEP AT FASHION FORWARD FESTIVAL

Wednesday. 5 May 2010
Fashion designer, Katie Perry will launch her latest collection at The Fashion Forward Festival on the 7 May, 2010 at Paddington Town Hall. The Fashion Forward Festival Syd 2010 is the first in a platform of fashion events to showcase emerging designers whilst raising revenue and awareness for the AIDS Trust of Australia.
Katie Perry’s latest collection is named after one of the Katie’s core brand values, Trust.

The Trust collection was borne from Katie Perry’s ‘Inspire wall’ at her studio in Mosman. The inspire wall is a collection of thoughts and ideas from women about life and fashion.
Katie says “what inspires women and the way they want to feel about themselves is very important to me and how I create each collection. There is a great quote that you can’t help relate to as an artist and that is “its not what you do in life, its how you make someone feel’ - it’s a philosophy I believe in”.

A key to Katie’s collection has always been about how women feel and this has cemented her use of soft Australian jersey in her collections. With this idea in mind, Katie will bring a new ‘Inspire’ wall to the Fashion Forward Festival and guests are invited to write about what inspires them about fashion. Everyone who writes will go in the draw to win a luxury night at Novotel, Darling Harbour.

Comfort is so often aligned with clothes that have poor cut or are un-inspiring in style. This is a view Katie Perry is changing. The New York dress is fabulous example of how comfort and sexy can co-exist. It’s a dress that Katie claims is “‘The most flattering dress I have ever worn. When I wear this dress I feel confident, sexy, and beautiful – its feels like a second skin yet elegant at the same time – I trust the style and fabric to make me feel special”.

Renowned for her lifestyle label this collection provides comfortable style whether you are travelling, at work, lounging at home with friends and family. Women around the world have commented on the fabric,

About Katie Perry:

Katie Perry clothes are pieces that blur the line between home and play. All the clothes are designed and created exclusively in Australia. Keeping business local ensures the highest quality goes into every step of the process. Part of this lifestyle brand is also in “giving back”. So a percentage of every sale goes to Lucca Leadership, an Australian charity. The designer Katie Perry could be described as a citizen of the world: living in Asia, Europe and Sth Africa before settling in to Sydney. Fashion runs through Katie’s blood. Her mother worked closely with the Benetton brothers before launching her label in the 70’S dressing the likes of Princess Dianna and Paul McCartney. It was only natural then for Katie herself to become a designer. Katie has worked as a stylist, manager and buyer for such stores as Molton Brown, Oroton and David Jones. After gaining insight into the business and commercial aspects of fashion, her design skills were ready to be utilised with the launch of her namesake label.
