Orignially coming from India, meditation has made its way all over the world with new techniques and high quality practices. So I also couldn't escape coming across this spiritual exercise. A friend of mine highly recommends meditation, as she found it helpful with clarity and the chance to focus purely on herself. I have to admit I struggled with my first few meditation sessions. I didn't feel much of a difference and still struggled letting go of things that were bothering me. After much practise I now find I am bale to meditate quicker and have a peace of mind during my sessions. Just taking a deep breathes this sets me up for my practise.
Another friend traveled to India and introduced me to a type of Indian music using instruments such as Sitar, flute and Sarangi. The music is just perfect for meditation, but I also love it for waking up, traveling and working. It is just very relaxing and enables you to stay focused on whatever task you are doing. Personally the music enabled me to ignore the noises in the city and instead focus on my body and soul.
Ravi Shankar is one of the most famous Sitar players. Click here to listen to my favourite track
To feel comfortable while meditating you should also wear comfortable clothes. I love wearing Katie Perry and recommend her Adelaide or Shelley pants. While meditating I simply forget I am wearing anything at all!!
You may combine it with Merino jacket as its especially warm and soft and perfect for a cold room. The Amalfi tee is a great basic t-shirt that is stretchy and wearable at any time and place.
Apart from the music India inspires with other beautiful traditions, such as the popular incense sticks, that smell very welcoming. They can stimulate the brain to think clear and also to produce more serotonins and dopamines, that make you happy. Religious and spiritual leaders say incense clears the air as well as meditation clears your thoughts. You can chose from a bunch of different aromas.
For those who get headaches from incense, I would suggest to try natural incense sticks or less strong ones. If you are allergic, you may try other oil- or wood incenses, because people are usually only allergic to a certain kind of flower, plant, oil, wood etc or become allergic from an excessive consumption.
