In previous blogs I mentioned how exciting it is to be using soft merino wools this winter. Well I am not alone in having fallen in love with the versatility of wool.
Last night was a glitzy affair with the Campaign for Wool featuring an array of Australian designer and hosted by Governor Quentin Bryce AC.
With over 30 designers included in the parade there was a mixture of emerging and very established such as Collette Dinnigan and Ginger and Smart.
One of my personal favourite designs was by Tina Kalivas (photo shown). I wasnt crazy about the head-dress but the dress was stunning. Black and nude together is always a winner in my books.I thought this dressed showed off the suppleness and softness that wool can now acheive. Gone are the days of thick and itchy wool that school jumps were made from and this has been replaced with warm, soft knits similar to european cashmere.
So stay turned for the Katie Perry wool collection this winter.

One of my favorite places in the world is Byron Bay in Northern NSW.
I recently stayed there for a week as some down time. Byron Bay is am eclectic mixture of everything I love. As you stroll through the town centre their are people walking barefoot wearing sarongs and broadshorts rubbing shoulders with those dressed in their luxury wares. A hippy cafe sits next to a funky wine bar and you can eat for $5 or for $100.
I was lucky enough to stay at the gorgeous Summerhouse. Its tag line is "barefoot luxury "and this is exactly what it provided. Boutique with a maximum of 12 guests rooms overlooked the pool and Byron hinterland.
Every day I lazed around in my Katie Perry pieces either curling up on the huge day beds or having cheese and wine nights.
My biggest advice for your wardrobe when you go to Byron is to keep it comfortable and relaxed. There are some gorgeous restaurants but even here its is more about understated luxury pieces rather them over the top evening wear. I didn't wear my heels the entire time and found gorgeous sandals worked in the evenings.
So next time you are planning a trip I hope it's to Byron Bay.

I have just gotten back from an amazing time in Jakata, but I don’t want to rub that in!! What I want to write about today in travel and all that can achieve.
New sights and sounds. It is very easy to have a perception of a city, country that you have never visited. I was expecting a city like Bangkok with noise, markets stalls and traffic jams. Instead I found a city with huge beautifully light fountains and a society of very glamorous people. Isn’t this much the same as anything in life that perceptions don’t often match reality and you have to experience it for yourself?
I find it's always a good idea to go away to find out what you miss back home. For me it was my design studio and reaffirmed how much I love my job. I also found being away gave me a chance to stop and think rather then getting caught up in the day to day business.
Colours and fashion. I am always very inspired by other countries colours. Is it the chance to be able to stop and look around and having time to open your eyes rather then rushing from one thing to the next. New fruits and planets are always a great source of colour I found that to be the case especially with dragon fruit look out for new inspiration in the winter 2011 collection.
So whether it’s travelling to a new area, city or country I would suggest gong with an open mind and you may be surprised.

I have something to admit.........I get so excited when the label gets mention in the media no matter how big or small. As I work a lot by myself its great to get some recognition for the label.
So you can imagine how excited I was when I opened the Mosman Daily today and there was a right up about my "Trust" collection with photos. After the publicity last year its such a relief that now my label and the collection is getting a mention.
Slowly the wall in my studio is getting covered with articles about the label not my fight with my namesake!!
After the busy and long weekend at the Fashion Forward Festival this article has helped generate even more interest about the Spring/Summer 10/11 collection. If you want to see the collection for yourself before it hits stores make sure you pop by the studio (2/87 Avenue Rd,Mosman)
